It all starts with a dream. We all have them - visions of our perfect life or the perfect career. Ideas of pursuing our passions and finding true happiness. However, somewhere down the line we decide that we can't achieve those dreams. Too many bills. Not enough time. We have children. Not enough money.
From the food you buy, to the clothes you wear, to the car you drive, they all began with dreams. Every item you touch is someone else's living dream. The only difference between you and them is that they pushed all of the excuses, the barriers, and the fears to the side, and took steps, no matter how big or small, to make their dreams a reality.
Making your dream a reality first starts with you deciding to take your vision seriously, then doing just what you can to set that dream in motion to becoming your reality. By doing what you can on a consistent basis, you will be well on your way to creating your own "living dream."
Here are five steps to take to begin living your dreams:
Identify your dream. Do you have a vision for your life? Is there something else that you feel you should be doing? If so write it down, and brainstorm what that vision looks like to you. You can also create a vision board to help you more clearly visualize your dream for your life.
Set goals. Now that you have identified what your vision/dream is, write down a few goals that you want your vision to achieve. How will your dream help others? What are the objectives of your vision?
Create an action plan. Take the goals that you have identified and create action items for each one. Be specific by creating small, doable tasks, and give them all a deadline.
Decide to take action. Congratulations!! Now that you have created the blueprint for your vision, make the decision to take action. It is now time to put in the work.
Keep going. No one ever said that the journey to your dream was going to be easy. Even when (not if) an obstacle appears, stay committed to keep moving forward. Find ways to get around them, but keep moving forward.
